Bought this HD camcorder to record for fun during the Taiwan trip. Nope, bought in S'pore, in Challenger. Set includes a 4GB SD card, but I bought another 8GB and spare battery... In the end, cost only $243.90 (include $2 off for parking)... Original price (non-member) costs $249, by the way...

Have been wanting a SIM Card Data dongle, for my free Starhub data SIM card, which I can only use my old N80 as a modem, troublesome... So far so good...

Genting Trip Last Weekend
Went over to Genting over the long weekend... finally get to have a short breather over work, which has been EXTREMELY CRAZY over these past months... First time ever sleep so soundly on the journey... must have snored loud ... hahaha...
Day #1
Breakfast upon reaching the place... picked another new location to try the Roti Canai / Roti Prata... "Curry House", near First World Hotel, around the Kenny Rogers outlet area... Turns out to be a good choice! Very nice, big and cheap!! Only RM3! Cheaper than the tea, which costs RM5... or RM6???

*blah blah blah* So lunchtime came and we went over to Old Town for lunch...
Extremely tasty Ipoh Horfun!!!!!! Soup is "clean", can taste the chicken flavour used to make the soup... Noodles are smooth yet quite chewy...

Surprise by the crispiness of the samosas!!! very nicely fried...

Saw this mini kampung model, looks cute!

*blah blah blah* ... Dinner time comes, and we went over to the Food court for dinner... Eat a lot, hahahah...
Here's a view of Genting from my room's window....
Day #2
Meet up with my uncle and cousin today, so went over to Old Town for breakfast... Decided to order the Nasi Ayam Rendang, yes, it might be too heavy for a meal in the morning but... heck care!!! hahahah....
blah blah blah*

Did not take pics of Day #2 dinner, cos it was taken inside the casino... Nasi lemak, cheap and good...
Day #3
Had a bad brunch, so did not take pics... The noodle quality in "Only Mee" has dropped... drastically... so...
Took some pics before taking the coach back to S'pore... This is the 金针花, which the flower, when dried, is the 金针 used to cook many chinese dishes...

Lunch at Chinatown Food Centre
Had lunch today at Chinatown's Food Centre (yes, the one with the famous Leong Tau Foo 酿豆腐) ... My parents had packet this stall's food for me recently, so decided to eat the other stuff from the stall today, since already there... Was not disappointed...
Ordered the following...

Beijing Zha Jiang Noodles (北京炸酱面)

Very chewy texture (for the noodles)!!! ... oh, and the noodles were pulled by the staff upon ordered... fresh, isn't it?... Surprisingly, the meat sauce taste almost 95% like what my folks cooked for Bar Jniu(肉酱) at home!!!! Must mix the cucumber shreds with the sauce and noodles well, the taste immediately goes different, from good to great!
Xiao Long Bao (小笼包)

Meat is fresh, just a bit too loose... but the taste is there... Good.. Is served a bit cold, after the waiting for the noodles to be prepared... else if still hot, you can taste more of the meat soup / juice inside the dumplings!! Taste best with ginger shreds soaked in black vinegar...
Guo Tie (锅贴)

One word : DELICIOUS. why? Because they added in generous amount of chinese chives (韭菜) !!! ... Is one of the best Guo Ties I ever tried, in fact... No Guo Tie is complete with sufficient chinese chives, and this stall knew it... In fact, my food-picky father also says this is the best Guo Ties he has ever eaten (outside).... Also taste best with ginger shreds soaked in black vinegar ...
Name of the stall : 洪鹏 (if I remember correctly) ... if exit from OG Chinatown (back exit/entrance), you should face the famous 道记 that sells baos and dim sums and roasted duck/meat rice, then go inside, 洪鹏 back to back with 道记... Enjoy!!!

Down with Cold Today... Again...
Yeah, down with cold... finally my turn again (after my family took turns to catch it...) ... a heartwarming picture first... a piece of cake made from students... and I have not taught most of them since Sec 2 last year, only a few this year in the 1st semester... but still chit-chat with them sometimes... so guess they did not forget me... and this is not the top class nor even Express class, its a N(A) class, who remembers... Cake is cold, but warms the heart when eaten... Thanks folks!!!!

Ok, my breakfast after visiting doctor today... At Bedok Central, Block 216, there is this stall that sells duck rice, porridge and noodles. The name of the stall is "沈记" if I'm not wrong... Very nice food served... My mum ordered the kway teow soup, while I got the dry noodles, and ordered some beancurds and egg...

First, I must comment on the SOUP! Very very very very tasty, full of chinese herbal flavour, but not bitter, and sweet, with a hint of spiciness of pepper... NICE!!!! * Caution: May not be suitable for those who hate chinese herbal taste* To me, the soup is power enough, as I expect chinese herbal soup for duck noodles MUST be sufficiently strong (of course also not TOO strong), else it will not make a good soup for duck noodles...
Then the duck meat... not dry, but tender! a little bit of the "duck-smell", if you know what I mean, if eaten alone, but when stirred together with the noodle sauce, its still ok... in fact, its almost on par (or even slightly better) than the You Kee version... Not bad....
The sauce, the sauce... well, its a bit salty... *looks around, hope no angry chef comes storming out*... other than that, still quite ok... its not the super thick one that makes your noodles gluey, viscosity is just nice...
Noodles are springy but thoroughly cooked... quite good skills in cooking the noodles...
Overall, it has been a long time since I had eaten such good duck noodles elsewhere...

Now it will be a shame to not mention the beancurd... its simply done with heart! Why do I say so? Because most of the time, braised duck rice sellers will only sell the beacurd (and any quality beancurd) by only braising with the sauce... now this stall (I believe) deep/shallow fried the beancurds first, before braising them... This gives some chewing texture when eating... and the beancurds they used are of good quality, very full of soy beans flavour... egg is quite normal... at least, it is fresh, not undercooked nor overcooked, and has no foul "eggy" smell...

I am not related to the stall, but do try it if you are free...
Gotten this funny linkage toy too, for teaching aid, so nostalgic...
