Went to the 五月天 " 好好好想见到你 " Mayday Fly to 2022 新加坡演唱会

Went to this concert yesterday... Should be my first live band concert attended. Quite an okay experience, though frankly, I think I may not be a concert-person, so probably this one time experience is enough. Just to make clear, I am also not considered a Mayday fan, I just happen to like some of their songs. Some of my thoughts and personal feelings, so if you don't agree to, I can understand, hope you can too.

GOOD:

  1. Party experience very lively, not lose to other countries!
  2. Mayday sang for full 3 hours, including 2 encores
  3.  Talking part enhances the entertainment factor to level up
  4. Guest is Rene Liu 刘若英. Her new song 各自安好 is quite nice!! Also sang 后来 too !
  5. Some songs that I happen to hear before can hum along
  6. The young "uncle" sitting besides me also not the "party" type, so I don't feel so awkward to be the person sitting down while the rest are are standing. Thanks thanks!
  7. The young lady at my other side is just enjoying singing and moving to the rhythm even though not as smooth, so I don't feel so paiseh too as my movements are also very awkward too. Thanks thanks!
  8. Good pyrotechnic and confetti to add to the mood! The screen animations are very well done too! So are the lightings!

NOT SO GOOD:

  1. Arrived close to the start time, so did not have a chance to shop for the merchandise and missed out this experience...
  2. Seem the speaker(s) got blasted at some point, as it was quite evidence where I was seating (PA6). The sound system and effects was not very good.
  3. Not sure if something happen to the mic too as the later near ending part the singer sound seems a bit soft and off.
  4. My original seat was more nearer to the centre of stage but the new seating plan added this PD1 and hence my position shifted quite a bit to the left.
  5. People are still standing on their seats... sigh... and raising their handphone (camera) to video... sigh...  but very luckily for me, I somehow mange to get views in-between the raised hands and heads, so almost 95% I still able to see the band as they are at the extension stage, heng... but for those people behind these people, I am sure they should be pretty pissed off...
  6. When the guest rose up the stage, I initially thought she is 白安, then realise is Rene Liu.
  7. Was more hoping for 宇宙人, 告五人 or 苏慧伦 to be the special guest though, just personally
  8. Quite a few songs never hear before. Again, I think I was not a fan to begin with, so this should be normal, I guess. Though I will be happier if some other more common songs e.g. 你不是真正的快乐, 憨人 etc are sung...
  9. Some acts seem to be repeated, e.g. countdown with 笑忘歌... Its a bit... not so suitable? I also thought it seem a bit lazy on the organizer's end, though I perfectly understand the amount of time and effort that canbe cut if re-use, much similar to past years' NDPs.. but... anyway...
  10. Seats are too small! Not size-friendly for a fat person like me, hahaha...
  11. Very warm!!! The occasional droughts of moving air are a life-saver..
  12. Light stick is faulty, so had to shake a light-less stick for the whole concert duration... dampens the mood quite a bit...

 Overall, quite a nice experience...

Breakfast @ Hong Lim Market & Food Centre 06 September 2021

Hmmm... weird blogspot... reveres order again... sigh... Anyway... good food at Hong Lim Market and Food Centre... Not super delicious, but is very already very good...

(1) Tanglin Crispy Curry Puff - Chicken & Potato at $1.80 per piece... Very nice and crispy skin, paste is also very flavourful. Even my food-picky father also likes it very much...

(2) Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee - $4. The eggs are "sandy" , which unfortunately is not really what I prefer, but the taste overall is quite good. Will taste even better if serve on plate and eat just after served... I ta-bau and ate after finishing the mee pok so should taste even better...

(3) Hong Xing Handmade Fishball . Meatball Noodle - Ordered the small portion at $4, but the portion is not small at all. 4 bouncy fishballs and 2 flavourful meatballs in a nice bowl of soup with springy mee-pok in flavourful sauce... Wonderful...

Kimetsu No Yaiba 鬼滅の刃 Demon Slayer Chocolate Wafers from Iroha Mart Chinatown Point

$1.30 Dim Sum Bedok North Outlet $1.30 点心

Wanted to take a stroll after some bad incident that happened and solved (I hoped, nothing bad to happen nor continue).  Previously, discovered this $1.30 Dim Sum that some Youtubers mentioned and after a bit of research, realised there is an outlet in Bedok North. So decided to walk there and had brunch. There is a queue of about 4~5 in front of me, but takes about 2 minutes before my turn to order. Took about 5 minutes for my items to be ready for collection. Overall taste is good. After taking into consideration the $1.30 price, it is great!!!!

(1) Siew Mai 烧卖 - Cute "fish roe" on top. Contains meat, portion piece of prawn and 1 small bit of mushroom. Surprisingly, the first piece I tasted is very "umami" (msg ???) , but the 2nd and 3rd one is less so. Overall is still good though! In fact, it taste better than the one sold in the kopitiam near my house, which costs $2...

(2) Prawn Dumpling 虾饺 - shape is not similar to what we normally see as a Har Gow.  The skin is a little on the chewier side, but not bad. Quite good prawn fillings in quantity and bits of pepper enhances the taste. Quite good too!

(3) Chicken Glutinous Rice 糯米鸡 - I think it is the top orangy-red colour surface makes it easily be mistaken as fan-choy. But it is Lor Mai Gai. Can taste the rice is fresh, i.e. not those mushy ones you get from the frozen versions. Got 1 small piece of mushroom. Chicken meat can taste a bit of the wine used as marinate/seasoning. A bit bland overall, so for me, this is the only dish I need to dip (the rice alone) into the chilli sauce (if rice is not eaten with the chicken meat). But the biggest sparkle is that it is not oily, compared to normal Lor Mai Gais.

(4) Prawn Chee Cheong Fun 肠粉虾 - Skin is soft, but a bit thick. still ok. I believe the prawn fillings is same as the ones used for Har Gow. Soy sauce gravy is ok, nothing bad, and nothing special. Still quite ok for taste.

(5) Chicken Feet 凤爪 - May have pre-fried the chicken feet a bit too long, so the skin is a bit "rugged" ( 韧 ). Taste is ok, on the sweeter side. The black fermented bean ( 豆豉 ) can be accompanied with the feet, to add a bit more savoury/saltish taste. But don't eat it too much, else will taste too strong and over-powered the feet.

(6) Fried Yam Dumpling 芋角 - good flaky outside skin, though has a bit of hardened skin, probably because of the time that has passed. Can still taste the good taste of yam skin beneath the crust. Filling is still moist. Quite ok.

Old Street Bak Kut Teh 老街肉骨茶 Paya Lebar Quarter Mall PLQ Outlet

Went on my urban hike today (10 Apr 2021). Had wanted to brunch at the Feng Sheng Hao there but was amazed and put off by the crowd, so decided to try this instead. Turned out to be blessing in disguised, as this outlet serves some pretty good Bak Kut Teh !!! But I am still a fan of the dark herbal soup version.

Cycling Trip - East Coast Park to Changi Jurassic Mile to Jewel Changi Airport 3rd April 2021

Finally embarked on this trip that was planned long time ago... Did not regret going on Saturday instead of the Good Friday holiday nor on Sunday as Saturday is not crowded... Well, still crowded, as I had intended to have my breakfast at Hub and Spoke Cafe, but ... turns out to be good, as I had my brunch at A&W instead... long long time since I last dine at A&W... nostalgic...  Looking forward to next trip, but likely to be long time, as next holiday is very close to my 2nd dose of vaccination...

Half Day Leisure Trip at Nex ( Serangoon ) 16 March 2021

Sent my car for servicing at Ubi, and realised Ubi mrt is nearby, hence started my half-day leisure trip to Nex. Had breakfast there, some shopping, and then lunch, before returning to Ubi to collect my car.

Breakfast at Fong Sheng Hao 豐盛號. Ordered TW Special Pork Patty but not sure if they gave correct one, as the patty was very thin... I hope not... Bread is slightly chewier than normal ones, and taste naturally sweet, probably due to the milk content? Scramble-styled egg is fluffy, and goes well with the sauce of the patty. Sauce is slightly to the sweeter side with nice fragrance aided by the pork taste. Cheese however is over-powered by the sauce flavour. The cane flavoured red tea has strong tea after-taste, and elegant sweetness, probably due to the cane sugar. Can be addictive.

Lunch is at Pavilion Banana Leaf restaurant. The teh tarik is just nice in sweetness, has quite good Ceylon tea fragrance and smooth texture. The samosa is quite a big piece, and comes with a green (peppermint leaves ???) sauce and a red (sweet chilli???) sauce. Skin is slightly thick, and crips on the outside, and seem to have a spice taste. Filling consists of potatoes (mashed), spices, cashew nut, peas, etc. Quite good with the green sauce especially. Mutton Briyani is very big portion, think good enough for 2 servings. Moist rice has nice fragrance, and taste well with the gravy mixed. Many big chunks of mutton is included, very tender and no weird smell, very delicious. The red sauce/gravy is a not very spicy nor hot, and can be added to some of the non-gravy-mixed-rice.  The white yogurt sauce (raita ?) is super nice, on the meat or rice. Amazing piece of papadum that remains crispy after long time. Think this meal costs around $25 or so...

Tim Ho Wan ( 18 Tai Seng ) Lunch 27 February 2021

Brought my Carryme to Mighty Velo for a check-up, and had lunch at Tim Ho Wan nearby.  Was my first time dining in TIm Ho Wan. Overall experience is not bad, and is not as bad as others have made out to be... or perhaps I am lucky with my items ordered...  At least the signature 1-star-Michelin Baked BBQPork Bun is quite good...

Cute Sea Otters At East Coast Park 21 February 2021

Spotted these 2 sea otters lazy-ing under the tree shade of 1 of the small lagoon at East Coast Park this morning.  Thought I had filmed these 2 fellas with an earlier video but only to realized that I accidentally press the stop button instead while trying to take the video... sigh... Anyway, very glad that I decided to cycle today instead of yesterday, else will not have met these 2 fellas!

Also "discovered" a "new jetty" like place... Forgotten the name... anyway, probably will be spending more time there next time as it is less crowded than Bedok Jetty...

单身粮 小仙女撩面 豚骨拉面 原味 DanShenLiang Little Fairy Liao Noodles Pork Bone Ramen Original Flavour Instant

Finale video to upload in 2020... Arrgggh... forgotten to peel out the "wings" of the cup... Costs SGD14.90 for 6 cups at ezBuy. Bought the other flavour (spicy and sour) too, and both taste good, although I only put in a bit of the chilli paste it is already very spicy, and I did not put in the vinegar, as stomach don't quite like to eat sour stuff anymore... This non-spicy version has corn bits in replacement for chilli paste and vinegar of the other version. Noodles are thin and extremely chewy, and the soup broth is good. Has cute little narutomaki pieces and also 1 piece of char siew which taste quite ok too. Overall a good cup of instant ramen.

my REDISCOVER SINGAPORE Trip 2 : East Coast Park to Marina Bay (via PCN)

Went on my longest cycling trip today. Took the PCN from East Coast Park to Marina Bay.  Had brunch at Satay by the Bay, and found the kueh pie tee to be very nice!!!! After exploring Garden by the Bay, I cycle to Raffles Place MRT station to take MRT home. Tiring but fun.

"Rediscover" Singapore 19 Dec 2020 (4/4) - Red Dot Design Museum SG

Yeap, used my SingapoRediscovers Vouchers SRV to buy the SGD10 ticket, and which also includes a SGD10 voucher to buy stuff at the museum. A bit disappointed that many physical products are not present, only the posters to show... anyway, quite enlightened by many of the designs, and also at the same time, reaffirms that sometimes designer only focus on 1 aspect and forgotten the others...

Voucher and entry card...

Think the staff left the pail there, forgotten to keep... but it makes a good object for picture...

Shape memory fabric cloth...

End off the journey by munching away a big plate of nacho chips and latte, with riverside view... for SGD1.80 after using the voucher... Next target: Satay by the Bay... probably...

"Rediscover" Singapore 19 Dec 2020 (2/4) - Thian Hock Keng 天福宫 and (3/4) Merlion

Sadly cannot take pictures inside the temple... But is fine, as what goes into me as my experience is there... It has been many years since I last visited this temple... Very amazed by the building art works and details of and inside the temple.

Then set off to find the Merlion... I think is at Merlion Park... And also managed to find the Merlion Cub too...

Merlion washing my Carryme folding bike...

Finally about time to cycle off to Red Dot Design Museum SG...

"Rediscover" Singapore 19 Dec 2020 (1/4) - Amoy Street Food Centre

After many days of recuperating from the lateral foot pain injury (which I did not realised that it will take so long to heal to a walkable state), I finally got the chance to go for my urban-cycling exploration of Singapore... But woke up to a shock when saw the rain and cloudy sky... In the end decided to try my luck when rain seem to almost stopped and I set off.  Took MRT to Raffles Place station...

Then cycle+walk to my first destination which is Amoy Street Food Centre for late breakfast.

Had the fishball-bar chor mee from “Michelin Plate” Ah Ter Teochew Fish Ball Noodles. Ordered the SGD5 one with thin noodles (mee kia).  The noodles are strangely quite smoky, savoury and strong in taste, perhaps is the addition of the chilli sauce. It is quite in contrast with the soup which tasted sweet and reminds me of the flavour when added in winter-vegetables (冬菜) . These 2 combined gives a nice taste. Noodles are quite chewy. Ingredients are also quite good.  Suspect the pork slices are marinated with wine. Anyway, good bowl of noodles for breakfast.

Also had "Bib Gourmand" J2 Famous Crispy Curry Puff. Ordered one curry and 1 black pepper chicken (?).  The outer skin is the flakiest curry puff skin I had. Very nice. Contents are quite good good too.

Then proceed to walk over to Thian Hock Keng temple, or a.k.a. Mah Zor Keng as our family usually calls it...
