My First Cooking After Umpteen Years...
My return to cooking after umpteen years... tried out fried rice, with whatever I can find in the freezer... mixed vegetables (corn, pea, carrot), mock crab sticks... Does not turn out too good, have not forgotten the method, but have lost the feel...
Opps, supposed to be a little orang-ish in colour, but adjust the brightness and such too much in the photo, so becomes yellowish instead.. Should be orange, as put in some tomato ketchup for the colour & taste... Put too little too... Luckily still got fragrance, but taste is just ok, slightly bland.. Mom & brother says quite good though... I beg to differ... Can be better...

Lunch Today at Mushroom Pot (Orchard OG)
Went to the crazy OG Members Sale at Orchard, man it was flooded with people... really... shopped and had lunch at the Mushroom Pot inside OG Orchard... Delicious! Ordered the 3-Variety-Meatball hotpot set... very nice... The side dish includes a Thai-style abalone-mushroom (very small saucer), and a delicious deep-fried Monkey-mushroom with mayonnaise.. Had a hearty meal... Had to park at Centrepoint, so the parking fee cost $14... crazy...

Late Lunch at Bugis QQ Noodle House
Had a late lunch today at QQ Noodles House in Bugis... Day at work was quite bad... Intended to leave office early but... Anyway, went over to Waterloo Street to pray, and had this quite nice lunch...
Specialty Noodles + Fried Wantons + Luo Han Guo Drink

Noodles - quite springy but not very; sauce tends to go towards salty...
Char Siew - nice, even it is not the Cantonese version, still has a better fragrance...
Boiled wantons - small, very small, taste is normal...
Fishball - a bit springy, surprised...
Porkball - a slightly different taste, good...
Fried shallots - a bit too over-fried but still ok...
Soup - did not drink 2nd mouth, had a strong pork smell...
Luo Han Guo drink - initially thought too sweet, but could be due to I did not stir, as the 3rd sip I can start to feel the Luo Han Guo taste & a tinge of bitterness; refreshing.

Fried Wantons - amazingly well fried to stay crisp even after 30 minutes; skin is thin, fillings are too little to have a good judge... But dip in the mayonnaise, it is good, haha...

Hahaha... Funny spectacles kit...

The BIG rabbit for CNY deco at Great Eastern Building...

This is delicious... Its "Soupy Mixed Braised Flavour" (湿卤味), in a stall in the hawker centre besides OG People's Park, you know, the one with the famous Yong Tau Foo... This is quite nice, had it today, in fact... cost $4.50, comes with a bowl of white rice... It doesn't have the dark soy sauce "braise", but is rather like... "fermented beancurd (南乳/豆腐乳)+ red Yong Tau Foo sauce + etc"... serving portion is a bit small, but taste-wise is quite good...

MY NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS / WISHES
(1) Resign from full time teaching in May, rejoin as Contract-Adjunct in school Term 3 on 2/3 load (and 2/3 pay). So people, I will be poor from now on, no money to loan...
(2) Spend more time with my folks, which should be possible with my new job as Contract-Adjunct teacher.
(3) Do faithfully the pysiotheraphy exercises for my ankle ligament and tendon problems to heal as much as possible, hopefully no operation.
(4) Ride (dust-collecting) bicycle every Sunday morning (when my ankle problem solves)
(5) Be happy.
