Lunch at Chinatown Food Centre
Had lunch today at Chinatown's Food Centre (yes, the one with the famous Leong Tau Foo 酿豆腐) ... My parents had packet this stall's food for me recently, so decided to eat the other stuff from the stall today, since already there... Was not disappointed...
Ordered the following...
Beijing Zha Jiang Noodles (北京炸酱面)
Very chewy texture (for the noodles)!!! ... oh, and the noodles were pulled by the staff upon ordered... fresh, isn't it?... Surprisingly, the meat sauce taste almost 95% like what my folks cooked for Bar Jniu(肉酱) at home!!!! Must mix the cucumber shreds with the sauce and noodles well, the taste immediately goes different, from good to great!
Xiao Long Bao (小笼包)
Meat is fresh, just a bit too loose... but the taste is there... Good.. Is served a bit cold, after the waiting for the noodles to be prepared... else if still hot, you can taste more of the meat soup / juice inside the dumplings!! Taste best with ginger shreds soaked in black vinegar...
Guo Tie (锅贴)
One word : DELICIOUS. why? Because they added in generous amount of chinese chives (韭菜) !!! ... Is one of the best Guo Ties I ever tried, in fact... No Guo Tie is complete with sufficient chinese chives, and this stall knew it... In fact, my food-picky father also says this is the best Guo Ties he has ever eaten (outside).... Also taste best with ginger shreds soaked in black vinegar ...
Name of the stall : 洪鹏 (if I remember correctly) ... if exit from OG Chinatown (back exit/entrance), you should face the famous 道记 that sells baos and dim sums and roasted duck/meat rice, then go inside, 洪鹏 back to back with 道记... Enjoy!!!
