Enjoyable Sunday...

Went over to Chinatown area with my 2 folks today... Had a late breakfast over at Hans, absolutely wonderful good old Sunny-Side-Up/Scramble Eggs with Bacon/Ham & Toast... Black coffee is good as usual... and the Chicken Congee is good too (shared among 3 of us)... Enjoyable...

Then proceed to CSC for jalan.... Did not get anything, so proceed to OG PP for some shopping...

Along the way back, decided to walk into 钊记 (the red signboard one) to have the Oil-Chicken noodles (油鸡面), Dumplings Soup (水饺汤), and home-made barley water... The ambiance is very very nostalgic... so relaxing... eating should be this good, good food, good atmosphere... Despite some people having negative review about this shop, I beg to differ. The food they whipped up is done simple. Yes, very simple. So much so that sometimes those who are used to "complicated food" may find this type of food nothing special... But if you eat SLOWER a bit, and CHEW YOUR FOOD a bit longer... you can actually taste the difference... In this case, you can actually taste the nostalgic (a.k.a. home-cooked) taste and taste the real taste of the ingredients... The noodles are so so so so "Q" (springy)... DEFINITELY MUST TRY!!!

Parents enjoyed the meals too... Finished the outing by buying some Hans puff and muffins... Went back home and had tea (actually is coffee) with them... Enjoyable day...

Genting Trip May 2011

Went to Genting over the weekend, and stayed for 4 nights... Intended to go to KL during the stay, but was raining... Anyway, fun trip... sorry, should be delicious trip!!!

Some highlights...

This is Day 1's lunch... Ze Char, very very very very good!!!!! Is the 1st 2 stalls inside the kopitiam in the bowling place building ... Fried egg is crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside... Fried Tofu is also extremely crispy on the outside, and soft & silky for the inside, goooooood.... 1st time eating the Marmite Chicken, also very very 下饭...

This very special dish is made with the top most of the coconut tree (?), 椰心, stirred fried with chicken pieces, etc,... the 椰心 is very tender yet crisp, very flavourful, difficult to describe...

A pity always forget to take pictures before eating.. Anyway, do try the goreng pisang / yam / sweet potato; stall is inside the indoor theme park (outside of First World Hotel area) ; although the standard of the dough has dropped (a little "powder-ish"), it is still nice!!!! Especially the yam, very "soft"...

This is taken at the 鸿运restaurant inside the Resort casino... Serves very nice Roast chicken noodles, and extremely delicious Dim Sum!!!!!!!! Free flow of soup & drink (has ginseng tea some more!!!) Also has a very nice view, so had to take a photo...

...reminds me of the time in Taiwan, 九份... hahaha...

Finally tried the roasted chestnuts, bought near the indoor theme park / arcade area... typical big ones, not so nice... but fun to eat...

Then we had lunch in the Ming Ren Restaurant... wow, fine dining... and good service... and affordable price... AND GOOD FOOD!!!!!!!!!!! The Spicy Sauce Roast Chicken comes with a deliciously sweet and slightly spicy paste, which we ask to be separate and dipped later... and the roast chicken skin is EXTREMELY CRISPY!!!! Meat is tender and the seasoning has gone in... Other dishes are also very good...

Tried the Wasabi-Prawns... not as good, as the prawns seemed to be a bit over-fried... overall, the wasabi paste is good... Oh yes, do try their tea, very good quality...

This is Ipoh Hor Fun (soup version) in the Old Town Coffeeshop... and it is good! And you should also try the Prawn noodle+meehoon, even better!!!!

Took this picture after the meal above... Heavy fog, even blow into the Coffeshop...

While returning back to Singapore, tried the Hotplate Yee Mee... not bad!!! As the staff wants the cooking to be fast, they cook the chicken mushroom, etc, in the gravy in 1 pot, so just heat up the plate, put the noodles and other vegetables, cook a while for the vegetables, pour in the gravy, crack an egg, and voila! Done!.... Now this way of getting the gravy done is actually a blessing in disguise... as the chicken, mushroom actually are able to soak in the gravy!!!!

Nice trip... but all money gone.... hahahaha....
