Ipoh Lou Yau Bean Sprouts Chicken (怡保老友芽菜鸡) @ Chinatown Point

Went over to eat at Ipoh Lou Yau Bean Sprouts Chicken (怡保老友芽菜鸡) @ Chinatown Point last Sunday, to be a "frontline" before deciding to bring my 2 elders to eat here or not... and maybe it is a "not"... Anyway, the lamp shades are very uniquely designed... hahaha....

The bean sprouts chicken with rice set.. Think is $6.50 or $6.80, can't remember... also ordered a sour plum juice drink at $2... When I looked at the portion of chicken served, my initial reaction is ... don't want to type out here... Damn miserable portion served... the sour plum juice is quite flavourful though, not the diluted type, nice...

Chicken is... good... tender but taste (with sauce) is actually quite common... HOWEVER, I don't quite like they put the chicken pieces on top of the bean sprouts, making the chicken have the slight but distinct taste of the bean sprouts, which is not very mixing... Don't get me wrong, I like bean sprouts chicken, but I just feel the flavours must not be mixed, it just doesn't taste right... The bean sprouts are the short and slightly fat ones... are crunchy, but... but perhaps they can be blanched with hotter water, as when I eat them, they retain the "raw" taste after chewing... not good... personal taste lah...

The chicken rice... perhaps I should have order the hor-fun, but I have a craving for rice that day... It is not oily, which is good, but tastes slightly bland... Fragrance? well... hmmm... Overall is just normal...

Special mention to the ... nope, not the chilly sauce, but the ginger sauce, quite tangy. The spring onions and chicken oil helps the sauce very much...

Do I recommend this place? Well, maybe you have to try and decide for yourself... Will I go back and eat again? ... Hahaha... Probably not...
