Ottogi Instant Meals - Spicy Sauce with Octopus, Teriyaki Chicken

Gotten 2 boxes of each type from ezBuy... This Spicy Sauce with Octopus costs SGD8.03 for 2 boxes after all the discounts etc... You get what you see in the pan, not the picture on the packaging... Worst is, taste is not that good too... overall, not worth a future purchase but good for trying new stuff... In the end I mixed it with my instant bibimbap rice without the (bibimbap sauce)... To clarify, 1 box contains 1 pouch...


The Teriyaki Chicken taste much better though, and portion is certainly not little for a single serving.... 1 pack is 1 serving right? Or not... anyway, the minced meat is formed into little drumlet shape and the taste is quite ok, a bit towards the sweeter side... I just hope this does not have any beef seasoning or such in it... Costs SGD6.96 for 2 boxes...

( Ve Wong ) 13 Fragrance Mala Instant Noodles ( 味王 ) 十三香 麻辣拌麵 Dried Instant Noodles Hot Chili Flavor

Gotten this from ezBuy, costs slightly less than SGD10 I think... saw a Youtuber review this and thought this might be good... turns out to be slightly not to my preference after tasting.. perhaps I should not have cooked the noodles over flame as the noodles turn out to be a bit starchy and sticky in texture... or maybe I overcooked the noodles... the "13 fragrance" paste has a teeny weeny tinge of corriander-leaf-like taste, which I don't really like... the mala kicks in a quite a bit though... overall, this makes a okay supper when craving for mala taste but I probably will not buy again... perhaps I am now hooked on the Prima Taste Wholegrain Laksa, hahahaha....

Prima Taste - Laksa Wholegrain LaMian Instant Noodles Ramen

Gotten this at NTUC Fairprice for slightly less than $9... Cooked for 6 mins plus instead of the recommended 7 mins as I am afraid the noodles might get softer while soaked in the soup when eating it... Taste is very nice!!!! Noodles are a bit "bouncy", and the soup is very strong laksa! To nitpick, it lacks the fragrance of the laksa leaves which is found in hawkered laksa (i.e. sold outside)... Very very nice...

Super Cup ( Ace Cook ) - Pringles Sour Cream and Onion Yakisoba Instant Noodles

Gotten this limited edition instant noodles thru' ezBuy at a special price but could not remember how much ( SGD 2.90 I think ?? ) The noodles are quite chewy and springy, and the taste is... well... that of the Pringles Sour Cream and Onion potato chips flavor! There are bits of spring onions and I think potato chip "crumbs"... Taste is actually very good!!! But have to wait for another offer time to buy as price now is quite high (go search ezBuy and you'll see...)

香香 Xiang Xiang ( Taiwan Food ) @ Bedok Point

Went to 香香 Xiang Xiang ( Taiwan Food ) @ Bedok Point for a late lunch as I have the craving for the mee sua 麵線, before heading to the Cars@Expo... Actually their braised pork rice 滷肉飯 is also very good too, with lots of oil-onion 油蔥 fragrance...


Ordered the passion fruit drink with pearls at an add-on price of $2.00 ... Beeper for food to be ready...


I ordered the Crispy(?) Chicken Strip Mee Sua ($6.80), and also the Fried Chicken Strip with Salt and Pepper ($5.00)...


Mee Sua is not soggy, still retains a slight bounce, but very slight... the thick soup base is good, has good balance of savoury and sweet (lots of help from the carrots and other vegetables, I think), with a tinge of sourness from the vinegar and also a bit of the oil-onion 油蔥 fragrance... can also see strips of mushrooms, carrots, red bell pepper and etc... I think the receipt has a typo-error as the chicken strips are not supposed to be "crispy". Instead, they are super tender 嫩 and juicy, with the chicken juice sweetness strongly present when you chew them... Very solid... Suspect they use chicken thigh and not chicken breast meat...


Another solid fried chicken with salt and pepper 鹽酥雞... If I remember correctly, they told us they use chicken thigh for this dish, hence the chicken meat is super tender 嫩 ... But I felt the taste is a bit weird that day, perhaps the pepper is a bit un-fresh... Still overall a very solid side dish... Will go back again, this time for the braised pork rice 滷肉飯 ...

Kusu Island "Pilgrimage" Trip 2018

Yesterday went to Kusu Island after a break of many years... alone this time... to pray to the deities as well as to take a break from all the stuff that happened... let the pictures do the talking...

Scenario 1:
While waiting at a pedestrian crossing, 1 middle age Indian man with his friend approached me and asked me something in (I presume) Tamil, but I can only give an "I dun understand" expression and say sorry to him. They seem to be lost but they also move off quickly after asking me.  Yes, I felt bad not being able to helo them as they seem very lost.

Scenario 2:
While walking towards Bedok Point (not my destination). a middle-aged Indian lady with 2 teenage children approached me to ask where is Bedok Point (shopping centre), which I directed by pointing the building to her ad telling her that is Bedok Point. She then asked where is the shuttle bus to Mandai zoo, and that stumped me as I have no idea there is one, hence I told her that I don't know where this bus is. After walking off a few steps, I tried google and could to find any information on this.  I then cut through Bedok Point and suddenly saw the signage of shuttle bus to Mandai zoo at the building's alighting/pickup point. I tried to go back to see if the lady and her children were still around but they weren't. I even tried to search the area but it seemed they had disappeared.  Yes, I felt bad not being able to help a mother with 2 children whom are likely foreigners (not locals).


But I also know I have tried my best.

Brisk Walk v.s. Jog

Woke up earlier today and decided to go for a good walk... actually decided a few days ago, hahaha... for a few reasons, e.g. re-season my running shoes for the upcoming Genting trip, prepare my body for the possibly 狂吃 sessions in upcoming Genting trip, continue my past few months' weight loss in a healthier way, take a pic of the morning sun to send to D (not read yet QQ... ) , etc etc...

Brisk walk from home to stadium and then some rounds ( abt 6~8 ) in stadium track, then normal walk back home... Did not want to jog today as I have not been doing any exercising for very very long, not so suitable, though, I did try jogging a little bit to let the body try to remember the feel... I felt brisk walking seem to be a very good way to start the exercising activity as the muscle ache and breathing heavy part can also be experienced with a quicker pace and more rounds, and it does not have the thumping impact felt in knees (and strangely by head) which is felt in jogging... I probably will do a few more times of brisk walking before ultimately returning back to jogging though, hahaha... Body feels quite good now... but... not the mind... anyway, that's a different matter...  Good start, will definitely want to continue...

Moms Dry Noodle - Mushroom Bean Paste 老媽拌麵 香菇炸醬

This is supposedly 1 of the newer flavours from the Moms Noodles series. It costs slightly more than the other at $14.90 which I purchased from ezBuy but at that time with a promotion of 15%. The noodles are typical (great) of the Mom's Mala noodles, and should be cooked for 5 minutes instead of the instruction's 6-7 minutes. The sauce is very fragrance! Got the sweet sauce 甜麵醬 taste with small bits of... mushrooms, or soy-protein or something, don't really know... Very very nice noodles!!!!

... that a post I read online about the Zodiac Sign forecast for this lunar year of the Dog can be... I basically don't really believe many parts of this type of "fortune forecast", because many times it can be e.g. "... be careful on the roads or driving, and stay within the limits, as this year you may have certain... " ... like, shouldn't it be EVERY YEAR (and every DAY!!!) that we ought to be very careful on the road and when driving???!!!! Etc Etc.... But... sometimes certain aspects can be uncanny true, and hits the spot straight on.... sigh.... BUT I WILL PERSEVERE ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!

McDonald's Breakfast Curry Burger

Tried the (quite) new McDonald's Breakfast Curry Burger recently... costs $4.20 for the Grab-&-Go set which includes the burger and a coffee/tea. Maybe I had too high expectations on it... Somehow I think the curry sauce does not go well with the bread, as it leaves a tinge of bitterness aftertaste... maybe is my taste bud spoilt... Other than that, it is quite ok. Will I buy again? Hmmm.... probably not, as personally I don't really like the combination of the curry sauce on the bread...

Nostalgic Childhood Snack 2 - Apollo Milk Wafer

Little Couples Q Noodles - Onion Dry Noodle 小夫妻Q麵 油蔥香乾拌麵

Bought it through the local agent as usual... And this is sooooooo delicious!!!!!!! As usual, the noodles are chewy and textured. The onion seasoning seem to have some mince meat fragrance, and the whole bowl of noodles will satisfy the hunger... no wonder 吳宗憲 likes it, as in 1 of his show, he says it reminds him of the outer province noodles 外審麵 taste...  Extremely nice!!!

The Kitchen Food - Sibu Instant Kampua ( Dark Soy Sauce ) Noodles 廚藝食品 干拌麵 ( 黑醬油 )

Finally made up my mind to purchase this, as I have too much fast-cooked and instant noodles at home already... And it is a GOOD CHOICE!!!! This Sibu Instant Kampua ( Dark Soy Sauce ) Noodles from "The Kitchen Food" company is DELICIOUS!!! Though it takes only 2 - 3 minutes to cook the noodles, I suspect the noodles are not deep fried as they are straight and not wavy like the common instant noodle cakes... And I accidentally overcooked beyond the recommended 2 minutes but still the noodles are chewy!! And the packet of lard oil is simply unique and brings back the nostalgic-type flavor of simple yet delicious noodles... The packet of chilli sauce however is not that distinct, as I could not taste any chilli taste... maybe it is overpowered by the dark soy sauce and lard oil combine... hahahaha.... overall, very nice noodles... Will I buy again? Hmmm.... Highly likely.... Hahahaha...

Sapporo Ichiban Tabimen Aizu Kitakata Instant Ramen ( Soy Sauce ) サッポロ一番 旅麺 会津 喜多方ラーメン ( 醤油 )

Another purchase from Myiji at Kallang Leisure Park... This is supposedly from Sanyo Foods... Costs SGD 2... Consists of a small round piece of char-siew, some (preserved?) bamboo shoots (?), spring onions and a small piece of naruto (fishcake)... The char-siew has a distinct pork smell... and the naruto is... well, taste like instant naruto... No distinct flavour from the bamboo shoots too... but the soup is quite ok, and the noodles, though soft, are actually quite chewy compared to some other cup noodles!

Daikoku Instant Soba Noodles With Tempura 大黒軒 天ぷらそば

A SGD 2.00 buy from Mijyi. I stupidly used warm (still boiling in pot) water to make the noodles... but can still taste the good texture fo the soba noodles and flavor of soup... The tempura is a bit hard, and has to soak in the soup for best taste imo. Only small bits of spring onion in soup powder ... Taste quite good!!!

Nissin Donbei Mini *** (a.k.a. Thin Noodles w/ Bits of Prawn & Tinge of Yuza ?) 日清 どん兵衛 ミニカップそうめん

A SGD 2.00 buy from Mijyi, and I can't seem to find the English translation for this mini bowl noodle... And yes, it is MINI... The noodles are thin and... normal. Has bits of slimy prawn (???), mushroom (???) and egg (???) bits ... Taste is normal but has a distinct yuzu fragrance!... hahahahaha....

A SGD 2.00 buy from Mijyi. The noodles need at least 5 minutes to soften up yet has a chewy texture. Has bits of cabbage, carrots and mince meat ( don't think is mock...) ... Taste quite good!!!

Mijyi and Shine Korea Haul June 2018 (1)

Xiao Ban Mian 小拌麵 - Traditional Shallot and Scallion Oil Noodle 古早味雙蔥油細麵

I bought the Xiao Ban Mian 小拌麵 - Traditional Shallot and Scallion Oil Noodle 古早味雙蔥油細麵 through a Taobao agent which also handles some Taiwan stuff, and this costs SGD8.415 with promotion. I believe this noodle is a sub-brand under the 老媽拌麵 ... 1 bag contains 3 servings of noodles, seasoning sachet, and flavoring oil. The seasoning sachet has granular powder that is likely chicken powder seasoning or such, did not read the information at back of bag... Anyway, the verdict : Good and chewy noodles!!!! Its texture is beyond my expectation. I expected more fragrance from the flavor though, which is little bit disappointing, but the taste makes up for it. Has a moderate level of shallot and scallion fragrance, and it is a bit too oily, try to put in the black sauce without pouring in so much oil if you can... Am now hooked onto these type of fast-cook noodles 快煮麵 instead of the traditional instant noodles 泡麵 / 快熟面 ... So will I buy this again? Likely yes, hahahaha....
